The existing building on Northbrook Street sits in the Historic centre of Newbury. It was built in the 1930s is now home to ground floor retail space with two storeys of office space above. Our seemingly straightforward brief was to convert the office space to residential use and add a roof extension. After gaining a detail understanding of the site and discussions with the local authority, the scheme expanded to add eleven further residential units. The scheme allows for the ground floor retail to potentially remain uninterrupted during it’s delivery. The new large apartments make the most of the views over the historic town centre and the Kennet and Avon Canal.

The scheme was submitted for planning consent in late 2015.
