| The construction industry is responsible for a large percentage of the world's pollution. It is therefore essential that the construction and lifetime costs of a building project are correctly considered.
We, as a practice, are committed to an environmentally responsible approach towards the construction of new buildings and the conversion / re-use of existing buildings. The specification of materials and building services should be evaluated against the backdrop of the following criteria:
- longevity of materials and long term maintenance
- lifetime energy usage with regard to carbon emissions
- embodied energy usage from manufacture to supply
- long-term environmental effects on end users, installers and dismantlers
- potential for re-use / recycling
- impact to immediate environment and local services
The individual importance of each of these criteria will vary from project to project dependent on each client's requirements. However, this evaluation is an integral part of our design process.
Whenever possible we cycle and use public transport to travel within the London area. We believe this saves time and reduces the cost to both our clients and the environment.
