The creation of the new pavilion starts with the removal of the old changing rooms. Having been the cricket club’s home for a century this will undoubtedly be a nostalgic moment. However, as part of pavilion’s renewal, the community carefully salvage the timber. It is cut and shaped to form new shingles. For protection they are charred, brushed and sealed with a natural oil.

When construction of the new pavilion is reaching completion, the finished timber shingles will return to the site and will be the last element to be fitted. The new pavilion rises from the ashes of the old.
